Categories

Categories allow you to group transactions to total spending or income over a period of time. The best categories are general and are reusable over time, such as Groceries or Entertainment. Categories are not intended to be temporary, based around specific events, or for small savings goals.

Good category examples:
Dining, Groceries, Entertainment, Travel, Utilities

Bad category examples:
Home Remodel (consider Home), Europe Trip Jul 22 (consider Travel), New Dog Costs (consider Pets)

Category Goals

Goals can be set on categories to measure how close or far you are from your expected spending/income. Goals are measured over your budget period and the target amount will carry over to the next period.
