Connections allow you to automatically import your current and future transactions into Accountable and view your account balances.

Safety and Security

Accountable uses a service called Plaid to access your account balances and transactions. Plaid helps you safely and securely log into your institution to connect it to Accountable. Once connected, Accountable only receives read access to your balances and transactions. Neither Accountable nor Plaid sells your data to any 3rd parties. For more information on Plaid, please visit: plaid.com/safety

Visibility

If sharing a budget with other members, the balances and transactions of accounts included in the budget will be visible to them. It is possible to use account privacy settings to hide either balances or transaction details while still including your transaction amounts in the budget.

Disconnecting and Reconnecting

To stop receiving balances and transactions from your connection, connections can be disconnected from the connection details screen. After being disconnected, existing transactions will still be kept as part of the budget. Connections are also disconnected automatically when you remove a connection, leave or are removed from a budget, or delete your Accountable account.

To reconnect a connection, go to the connection details screen. You will be required to log in again with Plaid. Be sure to use the same institution and log in information as when previously connected. For different institutions or different users at the same institution, please create a new connection.

Removing Connections

To remove your connection and remove the transactions from all budgets, visit the connection details screen and select ‘Remove Connection.’ Removed connections cannot be added again.
